IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN
By luck of the draw, three of the five Naked Authors have books released in January and February. Cornelia's fantastic Crazy School came out January 10th. Jackie's fifth Masie Dobbs novel, An Incomplete Revenge hits the stores on February 19 and my second Alex Duarte novel, Burn Zone, will be released by Putnam on February 14. How romantic.
So I have to make a couple of posts about the book. No stupid movies, no rants on stupid criminals, no stories about how great my dad was or what I just read. Now I have to focus.
For Burn Zone I used my experience with DEA in this one that follows a narcotics importation case from the ground up. The first chapter is up at my website, http://www.jamesoborn.com/. In fact, anything you might want to know about the novel is posted somewhere on the site.
My favorite review quote is from last week' Library Journal:
"Born is a former U.S. drug agent, and his experiences lend a realism to the narrative that puts it a notch above the rest of the crime thriller pack. Toss in some surprising twists and a strong protagonist, and you have a thriller writer on the verge of breaking out to the big time. Fans of Michael Connelly might want to check this out. For all fiction collections.—Jeff Ayers, Seattle P.L. "
Next week I hit the road for the release of Burn Zone. Although I don’t have any stops in California this year and will miss visiting with the other Naked Authors and Tom, who came to both L.A. signings last year, I do have 30 + events scheduled, including an opening party at Murder On The Beach book store in Delray Beach, Florida. Whew. I hope to meet some of you during the year. As I finish up my first year with the Naked Authors I want to thank everyone who tunes in on Thursdays and the other bloggers who could not have been more welcoming.
One final request, at least for this week. This is an info sheet on Burn Zone. Down load it, take a look then send it around e-mail and the internet like a chain letter. Post it, forward it, do anything you want with it. And you will have my deepest thanks.

Sorry for the "Me, me, me" post. But expect a similar one next week on the date of release.
Until next week,

ReplyDeleteHuh. Congrats. And a little bit of synchronicity, because Jeff Ayers is a member of ITW and I interviewed him for the ITW Report last year. Nice guy. His book was an encyclopedia of the Star Trek world--well over 500 books. I knew he reviewed for LJ.
ReplyDeleteHow do you manage all that promotion with a day job and family?
Phew! What a schedule. Let me know if you need somebody to carry your luggage. And CONGRATS on the faboo review. Can't wait to read the book. YAY!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a signing schedule! You're covering Florida like a cloud of mosquitoes.

ReplyDeleteWhat can I say, Jim? I'm a fan, and you're good. I'm disappointed you won't make CA this year, but you can't be everywhere--treat some of the other folk! I'll stick by you even if you can't get here!
ReplyDeleteHave a great tour!
